Irrigation (Finishing File, Irrisonic Tip)
Irrigant activation is a crucially important step disinfecting canals. Two elegant and technically simple means to activate irrigation include the Finishing File from Engineered Endodontics and the Helse Irrisonic ultrasonic tip. The Finishing File is used in the same latch type handpiece that rotates nickel titanium files. The Irrisonic tip is used with an ultrasonic unit and activation is performed passively. While technique recommendations are as unique as every clinician, generally each canal is activated for 30 seconds (at least twice) with both sodium hypochlorite and liquid EDTA for a minimum of 4 total cycles.
